Police were responding to a domestic disturbance call when Santos walked out of a room with a rifle. Ofc. Benjamin Nishimoto retreated to a police car and retrieved a rifle while Santos fired at officers. Nishimoto took cover behind a car down Mokuhonua Lane. Santos was armed with two semi-automatic rifles, according to police. Santos fired about 30 rounds at police in about two minutes. Nishimoto fired five shots, one of which struck Santos.
