Lasit's neighbor called the police after watching him hitting himself in the face in his driveway. When police arrived Lasit agreed to be taken by ambulance to seek medical attention. While in the ambulance he continually tried to get up. Officers held him down and handcuffed him at which point his body went limp. He was pronounced dead five days after he was admitted to the hospital.
